5 Steps to Positive Body Image

by Lyndsey Harper, MD

I love you! Saying “I love you” to others is easy and we do it often. But when was the last time you looked in the mirror and said it to your self? It’s time you show your body the love it deserves.

Rosy asked women what they think contributes to their lack of sexual desire. One of the top answers? Body image and related issues. That’s right, when you struggle with body image, it not only affects your mental and physical health, it also affects your social and sexual functioning. It affects how you connect with others and even your desire to do so.

We partnered with Emma Schmidt, Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor Supervisor and AASECT Certified Sex Therapist to create a brand new Rosy Class to help women learn how to increase love and acceptance of their bodies and decrease shame and guilt. Emma will walk you through 5 steps to break down negative messages and behaviors so you can feel proud to look in the mirror and say those three little words to the woman who deserves it most!

Class Lessons include:
Experiencing Body Image
Why is it so common for women to experience negative thoughts and feelings about our bodies? Emma Schmidt discusses where these negative messages come from and why they have such a strong hold on our lives.

Talking To Ourselves
The way we talk to ourselves perpetuates how we feel about ourselves. Emma Schmidt educates about the relationship of our thoughts to our feelings and behaviors.

Showing Up Naked
Being naked is one of the most vulnerable things you can do. Emma Schmidt explains that we give more power to the anxiety we experience about our bodies if we avoid looking at ourselves. Let’s begin to look at ourselves in a different way!

Feeling Ourselves
Body image can have a major impact on our sexual experiences. Emma Schmidt helps us realize that if we are in our head then we aren’t in our body to truly feel our sensations or desires.

Self-Love Challenge
Change your language today! Emma Schmidt teaches how become even more compassionate toward yourself.

Everyone experiences body image issues throughout their life at one point or another. Rosy is proud to help you on your journey to self-love. This Class is now available on the Rosy App. Take this class today!
